Addiction IOP in Media, PA

The real test of recovery often happens between appointments. Addiction IOP offers a place to stay connected, work through setbacks and build a recovery routine that holds up outside treatment.

Structured outpatient supportSchedule confirmed with admissionsCase management and continuing care

Keep support close as everyday life opens up.

More independence can bring both progress and pressure. Work, family expectations, old habits and unexpected stress do not pause because you are in recovery. IOP helps you work with those experiences while maintaining structured clinical support.

You may enter addiction IOP directly or step down from PHP after an assessment. Either way, the focus is on turning insight into action: handling cravings, rebuilding trust and making ongoing care a realistic part of your week.

When this level of care may help

  • You need ongoing structure for substance use recovery.
  • You are ready to step down from addiction PHP.
  • You can safely manage time outside program sessions.
  • You want support with triggers, relationships and relapse prevention.

An assessment determines the right level of care. PHP and IOP do not provide overnight monitoring or emergency stabilization.

Some situations call for a higher level of care.

Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs do not provide overnight monitoring, supervised medical withdrawal or emergency stabilization. If you or someone you love may need 24-hour support, tell our team what is happening. We can talk through what you need and help point you toward a setting that fits, including a more intensive level of care.

Call (484) 779-1816How our referral help works

Modalities in this program

Many proven therapies, one plan. Your clinician combines the approaches below into an individual plan built around your goals and your life.

Recovery skills you can use between sessions.

IOP offers a lower intensity of treatment than PHP. The team confirms current session days, hours and format during admissions. Together, you can discuss how participation fits with responsibilities and recovery needs.

01

Bring challenges back to the group

Talk through cravings, close calls and difficult situations with clinical guidance and peer support. Use those experiences to strengthen your next response.

02

Make your plan practical

Work on boundaries, communication and routines that reduce risk. Identify what support you can actually access when stress rises.

03

Prepare for continuing recovery

Connect with ongoing therapy, recovery resources and prescriber follow-up when needed. Case management helps turn a list of recommendations into clear next steps.

Coordinated care while you are here

Your sessions stay focused on treatment.
The coordination stays handled.

Treatment goes easier when the practical side is not on your shoulders. Case management works alongside your clinical team during the program, keeping providers, paperwork, appointments and family contacts connected so your time in session stays where it belongs.

01

One point of contact

You have a named person who keeps track of your schedule, providers and paperwork, so questions do not have to bounce between offices while you are in the program.

02

Your providers stay in the loop

With your written authorization, we coordinate with your therapist, primary care doctor or psychiatrist, so everyone involved works from the same plan.

03

Practical barriers get addressed

Transportation, scheduling conflicts, benefits questions and referrals are handled as part of treatment, not left for you to solve between sessions.

04

Progress you can see

Your plan is reviewed with your team on a regular basis, so goals, sessions and outside appointments reflect where you are now, not where you started.

Your privacy comes first. Information sharing follows your authorization and applicable confidentiality requirements. Referrals and outside appointments depend on provider availability.

Working with your care team How case management works

FMLA and short-term disability paperwork should not be your job.

If you are eligible for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act, or for income through a short-term disability policy, case management handles the forms, the reminders and the communication with your employer or carrier so you can focus on getting better.

  • Forms prepared and submitted

Leave requests usually need clinical details, dates and provider signatures. Case management completes what falls to us and tracks the follow-up so nothing sits unfinished.

  • Short-term disability claims

A disability policy usually asks your treating clinician to describe the condition, the expected duration of care and any limits on working. Case management prepares what falls to us, notes what the carrier still needs and tracks each deadline so a certification is not filed late.

  • Employer and benefits contact

With your written authorization, we answer HR, leave administrators or benefit carriers directly, so requests reach the office instead of interrupting your session.

  • A planned return

Attendance records and treatment updates support your leave request, and the same coordination helps stage your return to work around the care you still need.

FMLA eligibility, approved leave and short-term disability benefits depend on your employer, your policy and your situation. We complete the documentation we are able to provide and cannot determine your benefits or guarantee approval. Ask about leave and disability paperwork

Different approaches. Your individual plan.

Treatment draws on evidence-based and whole-person approaches. Your clinician helps select the methods that fit your goals, symptoms and stage of recovery.

Motivational interviewing

Explore what matters to you and what makes change difficult, without judgment. Treatment builds on your own reasons for recovery rather than someone else’s expectations.

CBT and relapse prevention

Identify triggers, cravings and the thinking patterns that keep substance use going. Practice coping responses and make a plan for high-risk situations before they happen.

Individual and peer-based group therapy

Work on personal concerns in individual sessions and develop accountability, communication and connection in group treatment. Recovery needs both insight and practice.

DBT-informed and holistic support

Learn to tolerate distress, regulate emotions and pause before acting on an urge. Mindfulness and whole-person therapies complement the clinical work.

Medication and medical support

Psychiatric medication management and medication-assisted treatment for substance use may support care when clinically appropriate. Review prescriptions, response and follow-up needs with the team. Outpatient care is not a substitute for supervised detox.

Family and life skills

Practice routines, communication, boundaries and stress management. With your permission, family involvement can help supportive people understand your needs and the role they can play during and after treatment.

Care shaped around what you are facing.

A diagnosis alone does not determine admission. The assessment considers your symptoms, safety, functioning and support needs to decide whether this program is appropriate.

Finishing IOP is one step, not the end of care.

A continuing-care plan can include outpatient therapy, recovery groups, supportive family involvement and medication follow-up when appropriate. Discuss who you will contact, what appointments need to be arranged and how you will recognize that more support is needed. The aim is a network you can keep using, not a discharge packet you have to figure out alone.

Connecting the dots

Case management ties appointments, providers, medication follow-up and paperwork together, so nothing gets lost between levels of care or after your last day of treatment.

Set up for life after treatment

Work, school, family and daily routines are part of the plan. Before you step down, your plan fits the schedule and responsibilities you are returning to.

Connected to the right resources

From outpatient providers and recovery groups to benefits, employment and community services, case management points you toward resources that match your needs and stay reachable after treatment.

Questions about IOP

Can I start in IOP without attending PHP?

Yes, when the assessment indicates that IOP is an appropriate and safe starting point. Others benefit from PHP or a higher level of care before moving into IOP.

Is IOP appropriate if I am still experiencing withdrawal?

Withdrawal needs a medical assessment. IOP is not a detox setting. Discuss recent substance use and symptoms with the team; severe or dangerous withdrawal symptoms require immediate medical attention.

Can family be involved?

Family involvement can support communication, boundaries and recovery planning when it is appropriate and you authorize it. Your team can discuss what that involvement could look like in your care.

Will my insurance cover addiction IOP?

R&D Center is in network with most plans. Admissions verifies your individual addiction IOP benefits, authorization requirements and expected out-of-pocket costs before you start. Coverage varies by plan; in-network care is not necessarily free, and a benefits check does not guarantee payment for every service.

What is the addiction IOP schedule, and how long does the program last?

Admissions confirms current session days, hours and attendance requirements so you can discuss how IOP fits around work, school and recovery needs. The length of treatment is individualized according to safety, progress and support needs. Before completion, your team helps coordinate ongoing therapy, recovery resources and medication follow-up when needed.

Is virtual addiction IOP available in Pennsylvania?

Ask admissions about current virtual care options across Pennsylvania and whether a virtual format is available for addiction IOP. Your team reviews clinical appropriateness, safety, participation requirements and insurance coverage. Availability is confirmed individually rather than assumed, and virtual care does not provide detox or emergency monitoring.

How do I get started with addiction IOP?

Call admissions or submit an insurance verification request. The team discusses substance use, current supports and treatment history, verifies benefits and arranges an assessment. If IOP is appropriate, you review the schedule, treatment plan and first-session expectations. Start dates depend on clinical assessment and availability.

Can you help with FMLA or short-term disability during IOP?

Yes. Case management is included in addiction IOP at no extra charge and helps coordinate clinical paperwork, deadlines and communication with your permission. The team can discuss how treatment relates to your work responsibilities, but your employer determines leave eligibility and approval, and your carrier determines disability benefits under your policy.

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988.
